Accomplishments
- We have created a Functionalities (virtual) Whiteboard identifying needs associated with each job type
- We have also created a document listing all external professional development resources
- We have added Mentoring to our goals as we do believe that a formal, institutional mentoring program needs to live inside the professional development piece
- We are working on a benchmarking plan to gather key details regarding peer institutions professional development
Obstacles/Challenges
- Identifying the gaps and determining if our group is to identify them as part of our project, or will leadership look at our plan and identify the gaps?
- Will our plan need to exist within existing budget and personnel parameters, or will there be a way to add 1-2 FTE’s to managing this program once established?
- Who will own “Professional Development” once created (employee or supervisor)?
- How to manage expectations of “if that, then what” from employees and supervisors
