    • Initiated industry analysis to determine what other university marketing operations look like including discussions with Arizona State University and University of Louisville
    • Begun designing campus survey to determine actual demand for marketing services

Obstacles/Challenges

  • Cost – many of the advanced digital, data-based marketing services, tools and resources that could take NC State’s marketing operations to the next level would require purchase of expensive software platforms and hiring new staff to operate them
  • Sharing benefit – If NC State had centralized advanced marketing services and resources, how could they be shared with the campus marketing community to realize full benefit for the university?
  • ROI – How would we know if these services are succeeding in bringing real return for our investment?

What is exciting about this project?

  • Opportunity to investigate new and advanced marketing services and tools and learn what they do
  • Opportunity to learn what marketing and communications issues our colleagues in the colleges, divisions and other university entities are struggling with
  • Working across unit lines with front-line marketers on providing a competitive advantage for NC State
